After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel or the airport for a scenic drive to Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda. Upon arrival, you’ll register at the park gate before checking in at your lodge and enjoying lunch.
In the afternoon, set off on your first game drive to spot zebras, buffaloes, and antelopes roaming the savannah. Later, enjoy a tranquil boat trip on Lake Ihema — the park’s largest lake — where you’ll encounter hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of aquatic birds along the Nyirabiyoro Islands. As the sun sets, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

After an early breakfast, set out for a full-day wildlife expedition across Akagera’s southern and northern plains. With your packed lunch, you’ll explore Kilala and Mohana plains — open grasslands that attract large herds of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. Keep your eyes peeled for lions resting in the shade and abundant birdlife soaring overhead.
After a scenic picnic lunch in the wild, continue your game drive through the park’s rolling terrain before heading back south in the evening. Once darkness falls, embark on a guided night game drive — a thrilling opportunity to spot nocturnal animals such as leopards, hyenas, jackals, owls, and aardvarks. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
